Calling All Writers, Reporters, & Storytellers

Apr 08, 2018 Editor

Saanich Voice Online has been around since 2011. It has published 86 editions, more than 250 stories all told by local writers. It’s been led by at least four different publishers, and has had who knows how many paper-people. (Would you like to deliver SVO – think of it as doing good while getting fit?)

During this past seven years the publication has covered important stories that mainstream media missed or elected not to cover; it’s introduced interesting and inspiring people and projects from the corners of Saanich to Land’s End; it’s posed questions and alternative perspectives on issues that other media is covering, but perhaps not as robustly as they could.

It’s also provided an opportunity for local eyes to connect with local businesses, politicians, and want-to-be politicians, and organizations through our advertising – many of the non-profit organizations ad spots are provided free-of-charge.

But none of this happens without reporters, writers and storytellers.

Saanich Voice Online is once again putting out a call for citizen reporters, professional writers, amateur writers, and storytellers. We have a great team of editors and proofers that can take a story from what feels like a rough draft to a polished print piece, or simply check for typos.

If telling local stories interests you, get in touch and let’s talk about what that could look like. You can find our submission guidelines HERE
